Some parts of an elf, fairy, or otherwise magical costume might just as easily appear in mainstream wear. But imagining such accessories in a fairy world context opens up myriad possibilities. Below we’ve highlighted just a few, starting with some delicate lace…
For the dainty fairy, this delicate lace piece (above) from Courtney and Christina Spivak of White Owl will bring out the feminine (imagine it paired with a set of silvery ethereal wings). Its pale gray and white color scheme makes it a versatile addition to your fairy closet. The creative duo have been making beautiful art objects since early childhood, as they explain in an etsy blog interview. Though this stunner is no longer available, their store boasts an incredible selection of similar lace jewelry and adornments to round out any Fantastic costume.
For the whimsical fairy in need of practicality, Lana, the Argentinian designer behind Lanadearg Creations, provides you with both warmth and style! We love these neck warmers, pictured here (at right) in woodland brown, and in lovely forest leaf green with grey accent, but also available in brilliant colors, too. Made using a combination of knit and crochet techniques, this collection of work is wide and varied, including scarves, gloves, and hats, and for the DIYers, offers patterns, too. We love this crochet lariat with flower brooch “scarflette” — pattern available in PDF. Light and bold. Functional and pretty. Nice!
This sweet and feminine Bohemian neck adornment (right) from Jojo Boho of Wildskin will do just that. In hot pink, with multicolored beads, pompoms, and shells, this piece is versatile! Tie it at the neck or sash it as a waist accent. Though this particular piece is no longer available, it is a great example of Jojo Boho’s stunning textile work, and sure to take any mainstream clothing up a notch into Fantasy Fair costuming.
