Dark Fairy Costuming: Eyes and Ears

Tomorrow is FaerieConWest’s Bad Faerie Ball… Whether your version of Dark Fairy involves full regalia or just a few awesome accents, this pairing of Fantastic eye makeup (DIY tutorial below) and winged ears (small, inexpensive accessory) to add a gothic pop to your next night out. You can always add a corset and some full-size wings later on.

What stands out: As MissChevious calls out at the beginning of the video, we love how versatile this look is. Exactly the way she does it, this could be used for a dark fairy, a fallen angel, a vampire (one commenter said she was going to pair this look with fangs for her first day at ComicCon!)… or you could change this to bronze tones and make it a lot more steampunk, or change it to any brighter color and make yourself up as a lighter magical creature.

A Couple of Fantastic Products used: Illamasqua Intrigue blush (dusted lightly all over), and La Femme Sparkle Dust in Aqua. View a full list of products on MissChevious’s blog.

Pair it with: These sparkly black ear wings from artlandish on Etsy. They hang around the ear instead of over your head or off the lobe, like many ear attachements. Over-ear jewelry is much more comfortable for all-day-wear.

Customize it! You can order any of artlandish’s ear wings with or without the glitter coating at no extra cost. Going without is a great way to make these ear wings a little more man-friendly.

Did you do it? How did it turn out?
