Adding a touch of enchantment to your next batch of cupcakes can be easy without resorting to Disney or something so cartoonish it’s hard to take oneself seriously. Since the fairy-themed kid party is a reality for many parents, and since fairy-themed parties are not the exclusive purview of kids, we like these elegant and DIY versions of fairy-themed cupcake toppers and wrappers.
These arty flower garden fairy toppers and wrappers (above) are the product of Etsy seller PaperScissorsCake. They are downloadable PDF files, and a snap to print, snip out, and adorn your cupcakes with elegant enchantment. (Note: even though it’s a PDF, it might be labelled “sold” — we suggest contacting the shop owner to see if she will offer it to you.)
London-based Meri Meri offers two pre-made cupcake decorating sets of paper wrappers and toppers, with their signature Fairy Wishes design (image at right) or for a more traditional look, the Cicely Mary Barker’s classic Flower Fairies are always a safe bet.
Feeling crafty? Make your own cupcake toppers with this tutorial on the Rook No. 17 blog (image below, and once you follow the link you’ll have to scroll a bit past the face-painting). Their accompanying party photos are helpful inspiration for any fairy fete.
Fairy-themed edible toppers? Outside of Tinkerbell and Barbie and the like, we haven’t found edibles yet. But we have leads, and we’ll be sure to post them here.
