Mischief Managed!

“I solemnly swear that I am up to no good.” A prankster’s boast for sure, but in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, it’s much more. When Fred and George Weasley demonstrate the Marauder’s Map, it’s this declaration that reveals the otherwise plain parchment for the magical document it is: an map of Hogwarts, including secret passageways, and the real-time location of every last person in the castle at every moment. Said Fred reverently, “This little beauty’s taught us more than all the teachers in this school.”

However, it’s the phrase that wipes the map back to plain parchment: “Mischief managed,” that has clearly touched a nerve with many fans, some of the more serious having emblematically tattooed the famous phrase onto their bodies. From small and discreet to large and bold, from simple text to Harry Potter themed fonts, this is a display of some serious HP love. (See more HP tattoos at the end of the article.)

For those who want to express their affinity with these enchanting lines in a less permanent way, there is an abundance of great options available!

Maya from Simply Harry has a whole collection of Harry Potter inspired jewelry (as well as collections inspired by Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones, among others). We love her Golden Snitch locket (at right), with golden wings and magical gold snitch which opens to reveal the adored phrase.

This tie-on Mischief Managed Bracelet (right) by Kayla Tighe of Friendly Strings is made of 100% cotton and woven in gold and red, (Gryffindor House colors for those in the know). This particular “semi-permanent” option is no longer available (as of post date), but we applaud the long-term homage.

For a simple and elegant approach, we turn to the metalworkers behind Friends with the Forest, who have made this beautiful hand-stamped Mischief Managed bracelet (right). It is made of pure aluminum and will add a touch of magic to any outfit.

And with magic about, there’s never a lack of mischief to manage!

We leave you with a happy birthday to the Weasley Twins (today, April 1, appropriately), and more HP tattoos!
